On a summer afternoon in 2028, a small gathering of people met at a secret location outside of Washington DC. Their purpose was to finalize the project details that would create the first faster-than-light propulsion engine designed for deep-space travel. This project was deemed to be as significant as the Manhattan Project of the 1940s, when the first atomic bomb was developed. Given the secrecy of the project’s goal, it was agreed that no one outside the full project team except the next few presidents would know the real purpose behind the work.
